Deck Builder in Richmond

Custom Deck Builders Serving Richmond and the Lower Mainland

SpringVan Carpentry is a 5‑star rated deck builder serving Richmond, building custom decks for homeowners across Steveston, Terra Nova, Broadmoor and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Unlike the North Shore, Richmond sits on flat delta ground with a high water table, so drainage and the right materials matter a lot here, and ground-level and low decks are common. On Richmond’s soft delta soil we set footings sized for the ground conditions and build in proper drainage, and we handle the deck permit process with the City of Richmond so the build stays compliant. We build new composite, vinyl and cedar decks, and vinyl in particular works well for waterproofing, along with renovating, resurfacing and rebuilding aging or damaged decks.

Every Richmond deck is built around how you want to use the space, whether that’s a low-profile deck that flows off the back of the house, a covered deck for the wet months, or a clean entertaining space. Many of our decks pair with custom outdoor stairs and pergolas and patio covers, and you can see how we approach decks across the region on our main Vancouver deck building page.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Paul helped us finish off a fireplace installation, preparing and installing a mantle and laying some floorboard trim. My experience with Paul was great, he was super responsive and able to accommodate delays in other trades with no issue. The work was completed to a high quality and I am was very pleased with Paul's attention to detail. Overall it was a great experience and would definitely recommend them to others.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Unfortunately our experience with Springvan Carpentry has been lukewarm at best, but I recognize the value in their work.

Our projects endured repeated schedule slips, and at every step we had to follow-up to ensure quality work was delivered. Multiple trades had to be called back to fix deficiencies that would have only taken a little extra time to do nicely the first time. Paul was largely supportive about getting everything up to nicer finish quality but I was frequently disappointed that it wasn't done with care and consideration the first time.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently had Paul and his team build a new deck and fire escape staircase on a house I own. I found Paul and the team to be very responsive and solution oriented when organizing the final details. His team worked efficiently through the fall monsoon season. the project went very smoothly, was finished on time and was a high quality build. I highly recommend Paul and his team for any projects you may have!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thanks Paul and Springvan for a job very well done! It's rare to find such friendly, honest, skilled and reliable folk these days and we're so glad we came across your website when looking for someone to build our new deck.

For anyone else, look no further! Our deck was completed on time and within the original estimate, and communication throughout was superb. Paul and the team showed up every day, worked hard and delivered exceptional quality and value for money. We couldn't be happier and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

We're heading out there now to enjoy the last of the sun!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Springvan came in at the end of a year long renovation to add fencing of two types, one quite unique, a deck, outside platform/staircases, and also to address a drainage issue. They were by far the best and most hard working crew of all the crews who went through our place. They never dropped the ball, not once , and their communications were the best of all the crews that we dealt with over the entire project(s). Would recommend 100% and they will be our first call when we need any further work.

Decking Materials Built for Richmond's Wet Climate

Trex Composite Deck Board

A capped composite board made largely from recycled wood and plastic, built to resist fading, staining and moisture. It suits Richmond's damp, low-lying lots and holds up through the wet coastal winters, with no sanding or staining the way cedar needs.

Weatherdek Vinyl Deck Cover

A waterproof vinyl membrane that seals the deck surface so the space underneath stays dry. On Richmond's flat, low decks it is a reliable way to keep moisture out and protect the structure below.

Deck Smart Vinyl Deck Cover

A heavy-duty vinyl decking membrane made for the coast's heavy rainfall. It waterproofs low and ground-level Richmond decks and comes with a slip-resistant finish that holds up through the wet months.

Timber Tech Composite Deck Board

A premium capped polymer board with a realistic woodgrain finish. It resists mould, moisture and UV, which makes it well suited to Richmond's damp, low-lying yards where moisture is always a factor.
